On Sunday, September 28, 2025, Frank Cardinal Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto, presided at the noon Mass at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica in celebration of the Solemnity of Saint Michael. The 1,200 faithful in attendance included recipients of the 2025 Saint Michael Award, recognizing distinguished, faithful service and outstanding witness throughout the Archdiocese of Toronto. Once again this year, Catholics across the archdiocese also participated in a Novena to Saint Michael in the days leading up to the solemnity.

In his message for the Solemnity of Saint Michael, Cardinal Leo reflected on the importance of the feast day for the patron saint of the Archdiocese of Toronto:

My dear brothers and sisters, the Feast of St. Michael anchors our spiritual warfare of everyday living and fidelity. Nevertheless, our beloved patron is not a mascot for aggression but a model of adoration and service. In this Jubilee, may St. Michael teach us to choose praise over complaint, intercession over cynicism, and solidarity over isolation.

Following Mass, those in attendance joined in a reception in the Cathedral courtyard, an ideal opportunity to join in faith and fellowship.
